Adoption Event Volunteer

Requirements

Estimated Weekly Hours:

Varies; 3-6hrs on Event Days

Age Requirement:

18+

What we are looking for

  • Experience with customer service or a customer-facing role; comfortable speaking to members of the public as a representative of the Rescue
  • Past or current dog ownership, which aids in communications and knowledge to answer common questions
  • Passion for the volunteer work we do and the impact we are making to save lives.
  • Enthusiasm for volunteering with a team that shares the same mission to help pups in need
  • Able to physically stand for several hours and to walk huskies of varying energy levels on a leash

What you can expect to do:

As we grow, we want to have more adoption events, but to do so we need more volunteers. Since 2018, our board members have attended almost every event. We typically would shoot for no more than 2 events per month. We are now at a point with volume of dogs in our care that they need more exposure, and it’s not realistic for the same people to attend events this often. That is why we are looking for volunteers to help staff our events! Volunteering at a typical event could involve any combination of the following:

  • Picking up dogs on the way to bring to the event
  • Set up and tear down of tent, banner, pens, kennels and other event items
  • Speaking to members of the public about AZ Husky Rescue; training will be provided but volunteers must commit to learning about our process to be able to answer questions accurately
  • Facilitate meet and greets with potential adopters and adoptable huskies
  • Selling of T-Shirts and any current promos we have, as well as collecting donations for the Rescue.
  • Snuggle and love on all the homeless huskies searching for their forever homes!

We knows that without given dates in advance, it’s impossible to commit to being able to do a set amount of events, or to know which events you can do. That is why we have no expectation for how many events you should plan to attend – we are grateful for volunteers willing to help out and we welcome you in any capacity that you can help!

What you'll get!

  • The incredibly rewarding experience of seeing dogs go from homeless to their forever home
  • You’ll become part of an amazingly supportive community of husky lovers.
  • You will learn about internal rescue processes and non-profit operations.
  • We are a 501c3 and volunteer work with us eligible to be used for college and grad school admissions applications.
  • Exposure to lots of snuggles with adoptable pups!
