Meet Gatsby! This young boy is a great big bundle of energy. He LOVES other dogs and just wants to play, and be on the move as much as he can. He may annoy some older / less energetic dogs with his playful energy, but for someone looking for a high energy playmate for current dog(s), he would be a fantastic fit! He does not do well with cats – we did an intro and this is a definite no-go for anyone who may ask.
Gatsby came to us from the euthanasia list down to his last days from Riverside shelter in California – he is so grateful to be here!
He loves humans as well. We would recommend no young children for him as he is energetic and may be too much for them. Older kids would do great with him though. He has been fed in the same room with other dogs spaced out a good distance and hasn’t shown food aggression, though we are still getting to know him. When he had a high value chew and the 6mo puppy got in his face he gave a few warning grumble growls but did not snap or try to harm the puppy – so this is the extent of resource issues that are known (very minimal and with adjustment into a loving him, we don’t see there being any problems for him longterm).
He would love an active home! He has shown some marking tendencies in all of his transitions from shelter to temp boarding foster to full foster home with a companion, though with his upcoming neuter we are confident these issues will diminish. He wants to be a good boy he just needs some stability and guidance.
