Nessie

1-2yo female Siberian Husky

Meet Nessie! Nessie was taken in after she was found wandering around a neighborhood in a too-tight collar. It is believed that she had been a stray for a while when she was found. She has been with her current foster for about 5 weeks.

Nessie settled into her foster home easily. She immediately got along with the 2 other dogs in the home. Despite not appearing to have any training, she learns quickly. She enjoys playing with other dogs large and small, both at her home and at the dog park. Her foster has described her as having medium energy. She loves walks and going to the park, and she walks nicely on a leash with minimal pulling.

Nessie is also very affectionate. She loves to cuddle and have her belly rubbed. She has done well with the older children and teenagers in her foster home, although she does like to jump on people. She has not been evaluated around very young children or animals other than dogs.

Nessie does display some typical husky behavior, although she is doing well learning how to be a house dog rather than a stray. She counter surfs and has gotten into the trash. She also shows some destructive tendencies. Her foster is working on house training with her, but reports that she does well in a crate. She responds well to verbal correction and to redirection with treats. She also has a high food drive, which should help with training.

All in all, Nessie is a smiley girl who would do well in just about any home. She would love an active home with other young dogs to play with, but is also content to settle down for some snuggles. If you’re looking for a sweet pup in the perfect little husky package, Nessie is your girl!
