Lita is a four year old Malamute mix, and she is a big girl around 75lbs with huge paws! She came to us as a rescue transfer from the Sedona area where she had been in a rescue setting for quite a few months and just not getting the right exposure. One of our longtime fosters made a plea to take her on to help get her the right exposure, so here she is!

She is a gorgeous girl who is ready for her forever home. She may have lived outdoors before coming to us because walking through doors and being welcomed on furniture were all new things to her. She is very shy with humans at first but is learning to trust them and has made big improvements with her foster in only 1-2mos with us. Now she even gets into bed with her foster mom!

Because of her shyness we are requiring that she go to a home with at least one other dog – preferably a more confident playful dog close in age. She loves walks and the dog park. Unfortunately, she cannot do a home with smaller dogs or cats as she is just a bit too playful with them! She will need an adopter that will continue to work with her on socialization and life in a home, and who will be patient as she adjusts.

It is very unlikely she will be perfect right away once she is placed in a forever home, thus we want to stress the importance of patience with an adjustment period. Shy dogs don’t show their full potential for a long time, and the first few days can be especially rough as you try to earn their trust. It’s so worth it in the long run!
