Leo

~1.5yr old male Siberian Husky

This incredibly sweet boy was found as a stray in West Phoenix. His finder spent 9 days searching for an owner, posting flyers, and posting online before contacting us. We reported lost and checked all postings with no luck. He was extremely matted and underweight when we got him and desperately needed a bath and brush. We think he may have lived outdoors. He looks (and smells) way better now!

He is incredibly sweet and has shown no sign of aggression whatsoever, even when having tricky mats brushed out of his fur. He is also VERY high energy and will need a lot of regular exercise. His new owner should expect to walk, run, hike or take him to the dog park – he is not a dog who would do well not getting out much. He has essentially no training either unfortunately. He does not know how to sit or follow any commands, and will try to push right past you to get out the door. He is definitely an escape artist. He seems to not be fully potty-trained, or used to the fact that he can’t pee inside. He has been marking furniture in his foster home – he has improved with correction since we got him, but this will definitely require some longterm training. The first few times he was corrected for this behavior he appeared genuinely confused that this was not allowed. He figured out the dog door right away, and with time will hopefully adjust to the new rules!

He is very sweet and eager to please so we do believe that with some time and patience, he could be trained into a well-behaved dog. He just doesn’t seem to know any better right now. He would do just fine with children from a temperament standpoint, but definitely has a lot of energy so may be too much for very small kids. He would easily jump up and knock them over. He does great with other dogs, loves to play and accepts correction from them with no issues. He is definitely a little more on the submissive side with other dogs. Not tested with cats.
