Layla
~3yr old female Siberian Husky / German Shepherd mix
Layla is a very energetic young lady! She is estimated to be about 3 years old. She is very sweet and loving with people and has done great around kids. She does ok in a kennel but would prefer not to be in one too much. She has shown no indoor destructive tendencies in her foster home at least so they haven’t had a need to put her in one yet!
She is a little dog-selective – she is doing ok with the other 4 huskies in her foster home and doesn’t necessarily start fights or show aggression, but she definitely seems to prefer the company of some dogs to others, so we would definitely recommend a meet and greet with other dogs in the home to see how they like each other prior to adoption, if there are other pets.
She knows how to sit and shake, but as with most young husky-type dogs has a huge desire to GO GO GO and will tug and pull you over on a leash if she can – she would definitely benefit from some leash-training. She would love an owner who goes for frequent runs and hikes and wants to stay on the move as much as she does!
Her owner that surrendered her had tried to tie her to a tree at a campground and found that she was jumping and lunging and making a lot of noise every time another dog came by, so they felt she wouldn’t be right for their lifestyle. We want to stress we don’t believe this is a result of aggression, but simply a result of high energy, insufficient exercise, and curiosity of the breed.
If you would like to meet Layla, please fill out our adoption application to get the process started!
