Meet Koda! He is a 3 year old Husky who we was saved from the E-List at nearly the last minute. Koda found himself short on time at MCACC for showing high levels of stress in the shelter environment, simply because he did not like it in there. During our evaluation of him, he was super excited to meet everyone, and ready to play. As a high energy dog, we knew that once he settled into his foster home he would show us that he was one of the happiest and friendliest boy!
Koda has a very strong personality and while he likes to make the rules, he does respond very well to a verbal correction or redirection. He currently lives with other large dogs, and loves to play. Some of his favorite ways to pass the time are squeaky toys, a game of tug-o-war, or a good snuggle. Koda appreciates a spot that he can call his own, and likes to go in his crate, as long as the door stays open! He likes to go on walks and isn’t afraid to show you how much he is enjoying his walk by pulling you to your next destination. With his love of snacks, we believe Koda’s leash manners can be improved with some dedicated training.
Koda would do great in a variety of homes that will offer him the energy outlets he needs. With his strong personality, and guarding behaviors that we have seen in his foster home, we believe that if he has a doggy companion in the home that it should be a more mellow pup who will let Koda take the lead. When originally meeting Koda, we learned that he cannot be around chickens, which also leads us to be cautious about cats. He does not currently live with any, but he did meet cats previously through a barrier and sniffed without reacting. Because of Koda’s higher energy, we would also suggest older children in the home. If you would like one of the happiest boys to welcome you home every day, Koda cannot wait to meet you!
