Ghost
5yr old male Siberian Husky (possible mix)
Ghost is approximately 5.5yrs old. He is a gorgeous Siberian Husky (possibly mix) in need of a new home. He has been in the same home with another dog for 4 years now, but unfortunately only recently the other dog has become aggressive towards Ghost, causing him to need veterinary care. Ghost himself is not aggressive at all, and his owner has been faced with the sad necessity to re-home him for his own safety. Ghost would do just fine in a home with other dogs himself. When walking on a leash he mostly ignores them and is very well-mannered overall. He has been to the dog park and done well with other dogs there, so future visits like this would be great for him! He has not been tested with cats, but because to the prey-drive of this breed we are going to recommend a home with no small animals. He has not physically lived in a home with small children, but due to his temperament and the way he has interacted with them at the dog park, we believe he would likely do just fine with children.
He has shown no food or toy aggression. He is a pretty easy-going guy for a husky, so long as he is with someone. He unfortunately does suffer from separation anxiety when he is alone. His owner stated that he cannot even be left alone for 15-20 minutes in a home without becoming anxious and destructive. He has been through many crates that Ghost has destroyed, and currently has a large kennel setup with a swamp cooler for kenneling Ghost safely and securely while he is at work. His owner is willing to include this very expensive and custom kennel setup to go to his new home for his adopter to have a safe space to house him when away, if it is needed. His owner previously worked 8 hours days – we are thinking a more ideal situation for Ghost would be someone who is able to work from home, is retired, or a situation where someone will be home most of the day. He is such a good boy when someone is there, he just doesn’t understand why he can’t always come with you! He has also snuck into the kitchen to steal food off the counter stealthily while people are home (largely contributing to his name, Ghost!), but other than that, when someone is around, he is a happy, loving guy.
He is up-to-date on vaccines and neutered. Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in meeting Ghost!
