At just 2 years old, Galena found herself at AHS along with her two puppies, all found as strays together. While her puppies were quickly adopted, Galena was unfortunately very shut down in fear and ended up being e-listed as a result. Thankfully, a foster stepped up and we were able to rescue this sweet girl.
Within a matter of days in her foster home, Galena began to emerge from her shell. She even quickly formed a bond with the man in the home, which is a little more uncommon for our fear dogs. She now enjoys playing outside with him regularly! Leash-walking is definitely not her strong point, but her fosters are working with her and with time and patience she will be able to improve.
One of Galena’s most endearing traits is her love of companionship. Once she gets to know you, she always wants to be in the same room with her people. She loves company and she is a very good-natured, gentle and sweet girl. Her fosters say that she does well with other dogs large and small, though she has not been overly engaging in play with the other dogs in the home. They also believe she would do well with children of all ages.
Galena does well in her crate, loves treats, and occasionally likes to adorably nap with her favorite toys. One of her most adorable little quirks is when she catches interest in a particular TV show and needs to stop and watch in fascination!
Her fosters truly believe she could do well in a variety of different homes, but her ideal home will have patient and understanding adopters who allow her to continue to flourish at her own pace. With time and love, Galena will continue to thrive!
