Daphne

10yr old female Siberian Husky

Daphne is a sweet senior gal that we believe is around 10 years old. She was e-listed at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control due to having multiple masses, including mammary masses and one on her foot. Right after we pulled her in early August, she got very sick with respiratory issues to the point where we weren’t sure if she would make it through the first week. But Daphne is a fighter, as she likely has had to be her whole life, and she slowly improved week after week until she was finally healthy enough to get spayed and have her masses removed. When she went in for surgery, we knew about the mass on her foot and 3 mammary masses, all of which had been tested and were benign. While the surgery was being done, the vet found a 4th mammary mass that was sent in for testing and came back as stage 2 carcinoma. Her chest scans after surgery didn’t show any signs that the cancer had spread to her lungs, so she is medically cleared for adoption and ready for her forever home.

Despite her difficult life prior to rescue and her medical issues, Daphne is truly the best girl who has done great with all 3 dogs and both cats in her foster home. She’s relatively low energy, but does love her 2-3 short walks a day and has started showing some interest in briefly playing with her foster siblings when she gets excited. When she plays, she has the cutest little raspy bark that leads us to believe she was debarked at some point. Daphne is house broken and not destructive, so she’s able to be left to roam freely when her foster parents aren’t home. On top of that, she knows basic commands like sit, shake with both paws, lay down, and speak. She also loves to go for car rides with the windows down and the wind in her face. Daphne hasn’t been around children so far, but we have no doubt she’d do great meeting kids of all ages.

Daphne is such a wonderful, easy-going girl, we really think she could thrive in just about any household. Adopting a senior pup can be a difficult decision for some, but we guarantee you won’t regret giving Daphne a shot at living the good life for the rest of her years like she deserves!
