Meet Captain!

This guy is so ready for his forever home. He is sweet, loving, easy-going and mild-mannered. We estimate he is around 4-5yrs old, and he is past all the issues you might get with a younger pup. He is totally potty-trained, walks great on a leash, does well in busier areas out and about, knows how to sit and shake, and is just a super affectionate happy guy.

What’s the catch? Well there is one, but it really doesn’t slow him down! Captain came to us from the county shelter’s medical euthanasia list – when a dog with no owner is severely injured, they send a plea to rescues to help. We got Captain out and moved forward with the necessary surgery to amputate one of his back legs. It was injured so severely that the bone was shattered, there was gravel embedded throughout his leg, and the bone was exposed. He was in so much pain, and he felt so much better the night after it was amputated that he was trying to run and play! Now that he’s fully healed, he can’t wait for life as a happy-go-lucky tripod boy. He has adjusted so incredibly well.

He hangs out with kids occasionally in his foster home, and is currently living with a small dog and doing great! Based on his temperament, we suspect he may be ok with kitties, but we have yet to do an intro.

He is just a friendly guy who we can’t say enough good things about who is looking for his own family to love him forever. Let us know if you want to meet Captain!
