Meet Tarkin! He came to us from MCACC where he found himself on the E-List for testing positive for tick fever—a very treatable condition that Tarkin already began treatment for in the shelter. We are so excited to share that he has since successfully completed this treatment successfully in his foster home, and is available for adoption! During our evaluation, Tarkin appeared uncomfortable and overcome with sadness in the kennel. With some persistence, he got up and gave us some slow tail wags looking for attention. Tarkin is such a sweet boy who is getting the second chance he deserves.
Tarkin has a smooth adjustment to his foster home. He is a very relaxed and low energy dog who loves to show affection. Even with his low energy he still plays some catch and loves to chew on his toys. Tarkin will always accept some good ear scratches any time they are offered. He is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door, although he is known to infrequently commit some marking behaviors. Tarkin does have some common husky habits such as counter surfing and trash diving.
Tarkin would do well in a variety of different homes: active, quiet, loud, you name it! He himself is low energy, but he is unbothered by the high energy of his current 5 dog, and 2 children filled foster home. He does enjoy the company of the dogs in his foster home, so we believe he would love to have another doggy sibling. Tarkin is so gentle and cautious around the kids that we believe he would do well with all ages. Tarkin has not interacted with any cats, so we do not know how he would do, but he has shown incredible patience with the other animals in his home.
