Waldo

5yo male Husky mix

Meet Waldo! A 5 year old husky mix who came to us from MCACC. Waldo was added to the e-list for fear and anxiety. He was so stressed and scared in the shelter that he just couldn’t settle in the his kennel, but his face would light up everytime another dog walked by. Considering he was found as a stray with another pup, this made a lot of sense! Shy Waldo stole our hearts, and we were able to find him a foster home with 5 other dogs, and 3 children. This environment proved to be a bit too much for him, and he wasn’t settling in as quick as we had hoped. After a change of foster environments, Waldo is starting to relax, decompress and show us his personality. And in just one week, Waldo has already made huge progress. He’s truly one of the sweetest boys.

Waldo is doing well in his foster home, playing well with the other large dogs, enjoying fetch, and having a blast with his stuffed toys. He’s a smart boy who definitely benefits from enrichment time–if left to his own devices, he has been found exploring the trash, but he responds well to redirection and verbal correction. Waldo communicates clearly with other dogs in the home. He will politely ask for space when he needs it, and if that request is respected he gets a long great with the other pups. He’s not looking for conflict; he just wants to feel safe. He can be a little mouthy while playing, isn’t a fan of the crate, and could use some work on leash manners (he does pull), but he’s eager to learn. Most importantly, Waldo is affectionate and thrives on attention—he just wants to be loved.

Waldo will do wonderfully in a family with kids—he simply adores them! He enjoys playing with a few other dogs, especially those who respect his boundaries, but he could also thrive as an only dog if his humans keep him active and engaged. Waldo is looking for a forever home that will give him the space, patience, and love he needs to continue growing into the amazing companion he’s meant to be.
