Sammie

1.5yr old female German Shepherd mix

Meet Sammie! This sweet girl is pretty shy at first, and she will need an understanding adopter who is patient as she learns to trust in a new home. Sammie was originally found as a stray in Vail, AZ in February. After staying with her finder for a month, one of our longtime fosters took her in, but has not had luck finding her the right home yet. Sammie is so sweet and we are hopeful we can find her just the right forever home!

Sammie does great with other dogs, and because she is more timid with humans she doesn’t know at first, we do recommend she have at least one other dog in her new home. Given her background, this will help to ease any separation anxiety she has as she adjusts as well. Once she is comfortable, her fosters report she is very loving, playful and even protective! She is more on the submissive side and loves her chew toys.

Once she knows her humans, she is definitely a cuddle bug, and she really wants to be with her people. Because of this, she does have some separation anxiety. She would do best in a home where she is not left alone for too long of hours.

Sammie has also done well with the cat in her foster home – she has shown no sign of prey drive to harm. Her fosters think she would be just fine with grade school-age children or older.

Sammie needs someone who can dedicate the time and willingness to continue to work with her and who will have patience for her through her initial adjustment period. Overall, she will love you forever if you treat her right!
