Romeo

3yo male Husky mix

Meet Romeo! This 3-year-old sweetheart was rescued from MCACC in early May after landing on the e-list for kennel stress. Romeo quickly ended up in boarding after things didn’t immediately work out with his first fosters. Between the shelter and boarding, he spent nearly five months in a kennel environment and was really struggling with the noise and confinement. Romeo is now finally in a stable foster home, and is beginning to relax, decompress and settle into routine.

In his foster home, Romeo adjusted slowly at first, but once he trusts you, he’s deeply loyal and loving. He has a medium level energy, enjoys playing with both small and large dogs, and does well in a crate. He’s working on his leash manners and can be a little anxious on walks, so consistent outings help him build confidence. Romeo has a few quirks that he is still working though—like occasional marking indoors and a bit of skittishness in new environments—but he responds well to redirection and learns quickly. Romeo is a social, affectionate boy who loves meal time, hikes, car rides, belly rubs, and fetch. He’s also a huge fan of the kiddie pool!

Romeo would do really well in an active home—whether that’s a young couple, a family with kids (ages 3+), or a home with other playful dogs. His foster has also noticed a prey drive, so a cat-free home will be best. He’s made incredible progress after everything he’s been through and just needs a little patience to keep building his confidence. Is your family the Juliet to this Romeo?
