Luna

3yr old female Siberian Husky

Luna found herself on the e-list for being too scared of shelter life. After spending her whole life with one owner, the shelter environment was overwhelming and scary for her. Despite how unsure she felt, Luna showed us what a sweet and incredibly brave girl she is. When we met her at the shelter, she happily accepted affection and made it very clear that hot dogs were the way to her heart! While shelter staff noted that she was too scared to walk on leash, we quickly learned that the issue wasn’t leash manners at all—Luna is actually an excellent walker once she feels safe.

At first she had little interest in the other dogs in her foster home, but after a few days Luna warmed up and began enjoying playtime with her husky foster sibling. She found comfort in her own cozy retreat under the bed and even conquered the stairs up to the appointment after taking some time to figure them out. Luna is a high-energy girl who loves to stay active and engaged. She walks beautifully on leash with minimal pulling and enjoys all the best parts of dog life—meal time, treats, belly rubs, walks, fetch, cuddles, and affection.

Like many smart huskies, Luna is a little mischievous and has been known to counter surf when tempted with anything that smells delicious. She also has some separation anxiety and can be quite vocal when left in her crate, though she does settle with time and reassurance. The good news is that Luna responds very well to verbal correction and redirection and is eager to learn with consistent guidance.

Luna’s previous owners shared that she did well with children, lived with other large dogs, and regularly visited dog parks. Based on both her history and foster experience, we believe she would do wonderfully with children ages 3+, in an active family, a busy home, or a home with playful dog companions to help burn off her energy. We don’t have any knowledge on how she does with cats at this time. She has already proven how resilient she is after having her world turned upside down. Luna is over the moon about finding her forever family!
