Ludo

Male, born 9/12/23

Ludo has been returned by his adopter who got him when he was 3-4mos old. He was born in rescue to Siren, a purebred Siberian Husky saved from MCACC. He is available again, now 9.5 months old. They said that he was just too energetic for them, however he seems to be very medium-tempered for these breeds. He wasn’t fully potty trained when we got him back at 8mos, but he now goes to the back door and lets his foster know when he needs to go out.

He was pretty timid at first when he came back to foster, even though these same fosters had him for some time as a puppy. He has shown himself to still be an incredibly sweet, loving playful puppy boy who does great with other dogs of all sizes. He is playful and mindful of boundaries with other dogs, and even great with small puppies. The foster had a 6wk old pup in the home for about 2 weeks, and Ludo did great with him. He did not attempt to harm in anyway, even allowing the puppy to climb on him (with supervision of course), and he just laid and watched! We always recommend close supervision, but this just proves how gentle and patient his temperament is.

There is a cat in his foster home, and he has also done great with the cat – he was initially curious but made no attempts to chase, and now he is not even phased. The foster has a 10mo grandson that is in the home, and Ludo has been fantastic with him as well!

His only downsides are typical puppy behaviors – he has made leaps and bounds of progress with potty-training, but he still does have quite a bit of puppy chewing behavior that the fosters are working through. He may benefit from crate-training, but otherwise just needs a home where people are very, very careful about what is left out. He responds very well to verbal redirection, but does not like raised voices at all and will tuck his tail immediately and sometimes even start shaking if you are too loud or overbearing in your tone. Just a gentle but firm correction seems to work well for him.

As he has gotten more comfortable, he has gotten more playful too. He has shown some anxiety when other dogs in the home went to the groomer and he was left without others, so we think a home with at least one other dog would be ideal for him.

Ludo is a sweet puppy boy who just loves humans and will make the absolute best dog for pretty much anyone looking for a companion or another family pet. He’s great with other dogs large and small, cats and kids of all ages. He gets up on the bed in his foster home and loves to snuggle! Fill out an application to meet Ludo!
