Kit is a 2-year-old husky who landed on the e-list at MCACC simply for being a little “too much” husky—high energy, stubborn in the most classic way, and absolutely no interest in going back to his kennel after time in the yard. He showed no aggression at all; he just needed an outlet for his energy and someone who understood that huskies don’t thrive in confinement. Once given that chance, Kit has proven to a big-hearted, goofy, lovable dog (exactly what we expected)!
Kit’s fosters say he has adjusted “splendidly”. He loves people and is happiest when he’s around anyone willing to give him attention and affection. He’s medium energy and enjoys all the best things in life—meals, treats, belly rubs, walks, cuddles, and showering his humans with kisses. Kit’s concept of personal space is very little and he believes that smothering you with love is part of his job description. He walks well on leash with minimal pulling and plays nicely with the other dogs in his foster home. Like many young huskies, Kit can be opportunistic if left unsupervised. He has been known to mark inside the home, counter surf, dig through the trash, and jump up on people—but his foster family is actively working through these behaviors. When he’s set up for success and tempting items are kept out of reach, Kit does great and sticks to his toys. He’s kenneled at night to prevent any late-night “treasure hunts” and settles in his crate without any complaints.
Kit would do best in an active home that can keep up with his energy and enthusiasm for life. He could live with children of all ages, though due to his energy level, extra caution around younger kids is recommended. As long as his future family is ready for an energetic, affectionate, kiss-loving husky who brings big personality and even bigger love, Kit is ready to be their perfect match.
