Indy

4yr Old Siberian Husky

Indy came to us as an owner surrender. His family came upon some hard times and were forced to re-home him for his well-being. Indy has spent a lot of time in a kennel over the last 2.5 years and has a few issues in adjusting to his foster home so far as a result. He’s a bit overwhelmed with his new freedom!

He is available to an experienced, husky-knowledgeable owner only.

He is a very sweet, happy boy who wants to sit in your lap all the time once he warms up to you – he takes a little time to fully trust new people, but once he does he will follow you everywhere! Over the last several months in his foster home he has slowly been introduced to new elements to see how he would do, and has displayed so much progress. He has been to a dog park, and gets along with dogs of all sizes. He would likely do better in a home with another dog who is more submissive, but would also be fantastic as an only dog – he seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, but loves the company of his person even more.

Indy has had a few social issues in adjusting to life outside of the kennel – these can be discussed more in-depth with potential adopters. He is a great, loving dog who just needs an experienced owner who understands the breed and is willing to help him learn. He walks great on a leash, not pulling nearly as much as most huskies do. He is crate-trained and knows how to use a doggy-door.

He would do best in a home where he is not left alone for very long periods of time, and not kenneled more than necessary – although he is kennel trained and will sit quietly in a kennel, he clearly does not want to go in any longer given that he has a somewhat negative association with the kennel from his past. He is no longer kenneled regularly and has not torn up a single thing in his foster home, on the plus side!
