Chloe

3yo female Husky Cattle Dog Mix

Chloe is a 3-year-old husky mix (previously ‘Mishoni’) who came to us from the large Navajo County hoarding case. She had been transferred to the Holbrook shelter while we were eagerly searching for a foster and while unloading her, she escaped. The handlers used a catch pole to get her, and we can only imagine that multiplied her fear and stress. Despite them being prepared to label her as “aggressive,” what Chloe really showed was fear. Once she felt safe in her foster home, she proved to be sweet, gentle, and affectionate with people she knows.

Chloe’s foster gave her the time and patience to decompress and after just about three weeks, Chloe had integrated into the home–with FIVE other dogs nonetheless! She goes on daily walks (double leashed due to her history), enjoys car rides, and has even discovered the joy of splashing in the doggy pool. While she’s still figuring out how to “play” like a typical dog, her silly, happy personality is starting to shine through. She loves chasing bugs in the yard, napping under her foster’s desk, and even has a deer friend who greets her at the fence! With some separation anxiety and a tendency to guard her space at meal times, she’ll do best with structure, slow introductions, and other confident dogs to show her the ropes.

Chloe will need a patient family who understands that new people and new situations take time for her to adjust to. Because of her fear, limited socialization and prey drive, a home without cats, small very dogs, or young children would be best. She thrives around other dogs and would love a canine friend or two to help her continue building confidence. Chloe has so much love to give and will make a wonderful pup for a home with love, consistency and patience.
