Blizzard

2yo male Siberian Husky

Blizzard is a 2-year-old Siberian Husky who came into our care and started out in a foster home before unfortunately having to move into boarding rather quickly. He has a lot of puppy energy and personality which became built up while in boarding, but after spending some time waiting for his next opportunity, he finally has a foster home again!

Blizzard is a social butterfly and happily makes friends with everyone he meets. He takes cues well when another dog isn’t interested in playing, although he may be a little disappointed—Blizzard just wants everyone to be his friend! Like many young huskies, Blizzard is still learning his manners. He has been known to counter surf, investigate the trash, jump up on people, and occasionally decide that non-toy items make excellent chew toys. He also has some food resource guarding around other dogs, so he’ll need to be fed separately from canine siblings. The good news is that Blizzard is a good student who responds well to verbal correction and food redirection. During his time in boarding, he showed that he’s capable of learning—he just needs someone willing to give him the consistency and patience to teach him the rules. He is very food motivated, loves a good walk and never says no to belly rubs. Blizzard has the happiest dancing feet to match his joyful personality and he is never too shy to let you know he wants some love!

Blizzard does well in a crate and has experience playing with both small and large dogs in his foster home. He does however, have a high prey drive which means a home without cats is recommended, and even some small dogs may not be the best fit. He would absolutely thrive with an active family and playful canine companions who can keep up with his endless enthusiasm, though he could also be happy as an only dog with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and attention. Blizzard would do well with kids ages 3+, although older children may be an easier fit simply because this happy, energetic boy can be a little a lot for little ones. His ideal home is one that can provide consistent boundaries, routine and plenty of positive training. He isn’t a mean dog—he’s a fun-loving, energetic husky who simply hasn’t had someone teach him all the rules yet. Blizzard is ready to melt your heart, and settle into his forever home!
