Suki
~2-3yr old female Siberian Husky mix
We rescued Suki from the euthanasia list at the Maricopa County Shelter in early November thanks to the commitment of a foster. Suki has been doing well in her foster home overall, but will be looking for a permanent place to land here soon! This sweet little girl is only 38lbs and needs a patient, understanding adopter to give her space and allow her time to build trust. She was already shaved when we got her from the shelter, so unfortunately we do not know if this was due to medical necessity or an inexperienced individual prior, but we never support the shaving of huskies except for medical purposes.
Suki has been good with other dogs of all sizes and shows a desire to play once she gets comfy. She is not overbearing and takes cues from other dogs as well. She likes to sleep in her kennel and has a doggie toy with a heartbeat that has helped this puppy settle any anxiety in her foster home currently! She has not been introduced to cats so we are unsure of how she would do there.
So much is still new to Suki, so she is scared of the doggie door flaps, loud sounds, or quick movements. Her current foster uses a doggie doorbell, and this SMART girl uses it to ring when she needs outside! Suki is still a puppy and is still working on perfecting her potty training, walking on a leash, and obedience. Like most huskies, she can talk back during her training and throw in some sass! Sometimes she will resource guard a toy or piece of trash from her handler. She really just needs some work and someone who will move very slowly with her until she trusts and is comfortable. She really has so much potential for the right adopter!
Due to her scared nature, Suki needs a home with no young kids with quick movements or loud sounds. She would do well with other dogs with a similar temperament to her own. Let us know if you’d like to meet Suki!
