Rocky is a total sweetie pie with just enough energy and spunk to keep things interesting! He was found as a stray out in the desert so we really weren’t sure what to expect and he has pleasantly surprised us at every turn.
Even without having ready access to a yard (no doggy door) Rocky has only had 1 accident since being with us! (and it was on his very first night) From day one he has been a rockstar about letting us know when he needs to go outside by sitting by the door! He is great on leash, but will get excited when he sees a cat walking by, however from our experience with him he hasn’t shown any aggression towards cats, just a curiosity and wanting to play.
When Rocky came to us it was pretty obvious he didn’t know any commands, but after a few nights of 20 minute trainings he now knows sit, lie down, paw/shake, and is working on “leave it” currently. He is crazy smart and picks things up quickly.
Rocky loves loves loves to play fetch and tug of war – in fact, when he gets a bit rambunctious (usually mid morning and again around 7pm), fetch is the only thing that will successfully divert his rough playtime behavior. When he is in “play time” mode he will get a little rough – wants to gnaw on your hands, will jump on whoever’s sitting on the couch and want to pin them there to play, etc, and we’ve noticed if we try and scold him he thinks we are playing and will only get more riled up. Because of this his ideal home would have older kids (12+), and he would do well with dog to be able to roughhouse and play with.
Rocky has had zero food aggression, nor does he resource guard and we have yet to hear him growl or get grumpy. He does however, like to counter surf if you leave leftovers out.
We don’t currently have him crated at all, as we are home all day so not sure how he would do in that regard. There have been a few instances of him crying briefly when we do leave the house, and most recently he wanted to come with us so badly that he somehow managed to lock us out by locking the deadbolt by scratching at the front door when I had stepped outside for a few. 1 locksmith and $85 later we finally get back inside and he’s just chilling on the couch like “hey guys where ya been?” – he’s too cute to be angry at!

He has been heartworm/tick fever tested, neutered, chipped and updated on his vaccinations.
