Okami came from a breeder who passed away in NM. He is very familiar with other dogs but was not at all with humans when we got him and spent most of life in a large outdoor containment with 30+ other husky mixes.
His foster has made a lot of progress with him and Okami will now eat in front of him and accept pets without flinching (sounds small but for him it’s a big improvement!) His foster has also gotten him to relax in bed and is working on leash training. He is very curious and likes to watch new people in his home space from a distance.
He is not aggressive and likely never will be with either newcomers or those he knows best. He is more likely to hide and avoid conflict than confront anyone. He loves other dogs and will need to be placed in a home with at least one other social dog to befriend him and help him find his way and continue to grow socially.
