We got Moe off the elist from the Phoenix county shelter. He has done well with the other dogs there so far – all large dogs. Moe is a “fur missile” when you open to door to let him in or out of the house since he is SO crazy high energy!!
He had shown no aggression in his foster home whatsoever. An adopter with no other pets and no children tried to make it work with Moe. We warned him to be cautious with other dogs AND not to have Moe around very small children. Regardless he had Moe around a 1yr old who was allowed to walk around freely with Moe within several days of him adjusting to a new environment. As a result of our warning and full disclosure on his behaviors being ignored, Moe unfortunately bit the child walking by his food bowl. Just as we said to the first adoption attempt we will repeat now. Moe needs a home with no small children.
He would thrive with lots of exercise. We recommend a husky-experienced home since he did end up on the elist, and he will need some work on basic training and leash training. Although he has done well with other dogs in his foster home, he is definitely excitable and can be overbearing at times, so he may not do well with all other dogs and an intro is required! We won’t adopt him to a home with dogs a lot older than him because he has his personal space issues. He also may need to be fed separately depending on the dogs in home as he has shown some signs of food aggression towards other dogs.
He also loves to run and wants to cuddle at all times. He is potty-trained but does like to counter surf. He LOVES humans and will dive-bomb right at you for pets and attention if given the chance – he’s really exploding with goofy husky energetic personality and is just waiting for a human of his own to love.
NO SMALL DOGS
