Krypto came to us from a shelter in CA where he was very close to the end go the line. Our amazing CA volunteer pulled him and worked out his transport to us!
He has made so much progress since he has come to us – he started out very scared and timid of new people and sounds in a boarding facility. Once we got him into a foster home, he made very steady improvements, though we definitely still have some training work to do with him. He LOVES other dogs of all sizes and loves to wrestle and play. He was with a chihuahua with his first foster in CA and did just fine there, though we think larger dogs he can really play with would be his preference. He would also do ok as an only dog so long as he can get his socialization and playtime in.
He has seemed to have some sort of intermittent neck pain on and off since we got him – we did X-rays and there is nothing majorly visible here, along with full health testing for heartworm/tick fever, valley fever, and any other basic issues. He is on a liver supplement currently and we plan to retest his blood one more time before adopting, but overall he seems like a very healthy and happy boy now that he is adjusted.
After taking more time with him our foster is seeing more potential Heeler type behaviors rather than husky – he doesn’t act out in the typical ways huskies can (not destructive, doesn’t try to jump fences, doesn’t try to get into the trash or dig) which really does give him a lot of potential in the right home. He is kennel-trained and will eat in his kennel even. He is mouthy in an attention-seeking way that is not meant to be aggressive, so he needs an experienced adopter with no small children who understands this behavior. His foster is currently working with him on it too. He doesn’t walk well on a leash, but again this is just something that needs training.
Overall he is night and day from when we got him, a totally different dog still looking for his perfect home. He is timid at first but warms up much more quickly than he used to, and is sociable, friendly and loving when he is comfortable.
No small kids and no cats recommended in his home. Please let us know if you would like to meet Krypto!
NO SMALL CHILDREN
Krypto’s adoption fee is $250. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, chipped, and neutered.
