Krypto came to us from a kill shelter in CA. He has made SO much progress since he has come to us; he is a completely different dog in his foster home now. He started out very scared and timid of new people and sounds.
Krypto’s downfall has been his struggle in communication – he makes a lot of grumbly, growly sounds, so much so that at first we were concerned of him possibly biting when he first got here. Over time we have learned that this is basically how he tries to communicate. It’s not quite the talking of typical huskies and can sound a little intimidating, but we really don’t see a situation where he would intentionally bite a human unless he was mishandled or extremely stressed. He can definitely still be mouthy, but he has come a long way in his foster home. We are recommending a home with no small children because he can be a little different in his behavior than other dogs.
He definitely has some anxiety issues, especially in new and high-traffic situations. He is SUCH a sweet, loving, attention-seeking dog once he gets comfortable. He will come up to his human and roll and snuggly against you for love and pets. He will also jump up to greet you enthusiastically if he gets excited! He so desperately needs the right, patient person who wants a best friend who will not give up on him and help him grow and allow him to love with all his heart.
He loves playing with other dogs, and is good at knowing the limits of other dogs when it comes to play – for example, he will play rough and energetically with the adult dog in his foster home, but is gentle and knows exactly how hard he can play with the 3-mo puppy there without hurting her! His growly / grumbly sounds have on occasion started some scuffles between other dogs, primarily from what we have seen because the other dog doesn’t get him yet and assumes he is trying to fight…. it’s been interesting to watch him with other dogs because you can really see the other dogs trying to figure him out.
No small kids and no cats recommended in his home, but other dogs would be just fine, though we will require a meet and greet to be sure they are compatible. Please let us know if you would like to meet Krypto!
NO SMALL KIDS
Krypto’s adoption fee is $150. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, chipped, and neutered.
