Check for ID
Checking for a tag is probably the first thing you will think to do, but if there is no ID or collar, it’s important to have the dog scanned for a microchip – you can walk-in to any veterinary office and they will scan for free!

Search the area near you for reported lost dogs, and make a report so the owner can find their dog.

The following are some of the best recommended resources for posting a dog you have found. Be sure to include contact information, a photo, and the cross-streets where the dog was found!

Surrender
If you are unable temporarily hold the dog, consider the following resources for surrendering:
- AZ Humane Society – They accept all stray pets that are sick, injured or abused. Per their website, they recommend that you contact thei Pet Resource Center at 602.997.7585 Ext. 3800 to schedule an appointment. Their EAMT™ Dispatch Center’s phone number is 602.997.7585 Ext. 2073 and has hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
- Maricopa County Animal Care and Control – Contact Maricopa County Animal Care and Control‘s Lost & Found service daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 602.372.4598. They have two locations, which can be found through the link.
- If you are not within Maricopa County, contact your local animal shelter.
Important
AZ Husky Rescue does not have a shelter facility and is unable to expend resources intaking and placing huskies with fosters / volunteers that have just been found and are in need of temporary placement while owners are located.
If you found a husky over a week prior and have kept the dog and already tried all of the steps above to locate an owner with no success, you can either contact us if you are able to foster the dog until it receives vet care and is adopted, or you can look on our rehoming resources.
