Sasha

2yo female Husky Cattle dog mix

Sasha is a 2 year old husky cattle dog mix who came to us this summer from a large hoarding situation in Navajo County. Sasha (previously Peridot) was one of over 45 husky mixes that were rescued from the property. She was the most attentive mother to one of the litters of puppies we brought in, and took the best care of her pups. Now that she’s spayed and her puppies are grown and adopted, it’s Sasha’s turn to find her forever home!

Sasha can be a little nervous with new people and in new environments, but she warmed up quickly in her foster home and absolutely adores people. She is a medium-energy pup who enjoys walks and playtime, and then winding down for belly rubs and cuddles. She’s lived with other dogs, both small and large, and while she can be a bit timid at first, she does well with them. Sasha is still working on her separation anxiety—she prefers not to be left alone—but she is (reluctantly) working on her crate training. She can get destructive if left out of a crate when no humans are home, so this is a skill we recommend continuing to work through with her. She has no destruction or chewing issues at all when humans are around! She’s great on a leash and is happiest when she’s part of the action with her family. Her fosters say she always has a smile on her face — Sasha is a true sweetheart.

Sasha would do well in a variety of homes—whether quiet or active—so long as she has plenty of love and companionship. We think she’s do best with another friendly dog in the home to keep her company and show her the ropes. She loves people, though we think older kids would be best — she’s shown zero aggression, but she was also never really exposed to them before joining us and isn’t really sure what to make of very small kids! She hasn’t been around cats, so we are not sure how she would do with a feline friend in the house. With her sweet temperament and big heart, Sasha is ready to be a cherished member of her forever family.
