Karma
~3-4yr old female Husky/Shepherd mix
Karma is still looking for her forever home – she is a gorgeous girl, but needs someone with a lot of experience and patience since she has a sad tale to tell: her owner passed away from lung cancer. She can become clingy once she decides a human belongs to her – she will follow you step by step throughout the home! She wants to have her very own person again more than anything else in the world, and she really would be amazing as an only dog because of this. She can have some jealousy issues to work through with other dogs centered around humans as a result of this – continued training will be huge for her.
She does not by any means need to be an only dog, and does great with other dogs that are content to give her space and coexist peacefully – she does NOT do well with other dogs that are overbearing or too in-her-face. Over time, and through the continued dedication of her amazing fosters, she has been improving in her interactions with other dogs. We will absolutely require meet and greets with other dogs in the home for her to see how things go – she can be playful with the right dog, but she needs a dog that will be able to read her and her signals well!
Her fosters have also made some incredibly progress as far as training! When we first got her, she had absolutely no idea that she was not allowed on tables or counters or anything else really – she thinks climbing is great and loves to have a high vantage point. She thankfully accepts human correction well and is food-motivated. She has come to love training exercises – she loves to be praised with treats and affection, and in a new weeks has already has learned sit, stay, down, shake, come, speak and her recall is steadily improving as well.
She is super snuggly and will want to lay her 80lb+ self on top of you on the couch and curl up next to you in bed. She really has a ton of potential, but is absolutely a high-maintenance dog who will require a lot of attention and time to be her best self!
