Koda

5mo male Siberian Husky

Meet Koda! Koda (AKA Koda Bear, Kodiak Cake, and Mr. Grumbles) was found wandering the desert with his mom (Korra) and a VERY swollen face from a rattlesnake bite. A good Samaritan took them to an ER vet who reached out and asked if we would sponsor their care. Of course, we couldn’t say no to this sweet little guy. Both Koda and Korra responded to treatment and are well on the road to recovery.

Koda had no trouble settling into his foster home. He was a bit timid at first, but from the beginning he has been very sweet. He’s comfortable around people and other dogs and just seems happy to be in a safe and loving home. His foster describes him as the sweetest, friendliest little pup who absolutely loves belly rubs. He does very well with his foster sibling (another husky). Like a typical high-energy husky puppy, he is an early riser who loves walks and playtime (fetch is a favorite). He is good with dogs big and small, both at home and at the dog park. His foster thinks he would do well with cats, although he has not been tested. He is also good with children of all ages.

Despite being so young, Koda has adjusted quickly to life in a home. He already knows to go potty outside and will let you know when he needs to go out. He has also adjusted well to being in a crate, though he will sometimes whine a bit at first. He is still getting used to spending the night in it and will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to go potty, but he knows not to go in his crate. He has not shown any behavioral issues in his foster home. He loves to show off his “sit”. He has already proven to be great on leash, walking nicely with minimal pulling. He is not reactive towards people or other dogs while on walks or in public spaces. He is highly food-motivated and responds to re-direction with treats when necessary. He has been to breweries, restaurants, and hiking trails and has behaved well in a variety of settings.

Overall, Koda is a chill dude who would make a great family dog or adventure buddy for an active adult or couple. He would love to have another young dog to play with but would likely also do well as an only dog. His deep, grumbly husky noises could win anyone over. He’s about as easy as a husky puppy can be.
